The Terminology of 'Hu Zhuang' (part 1/4)

Master Ng Choong Fah (4kb)

A Discussion on "The Science of Chinese Martial Art"

Chinese martial art has been very much misunderstood and misused since ages ago. Lets take a look around us, many people master Chinese martial art through novels or 'Martial Bible'. Some people, who only practice a few hours or learn a few steps of certain pose, have already self-acclaimed as martial experts or masters. For those who still have morale in Chinese martial art, how do you feel about this?

Every time before I take up my pen to start an article, there has always been a struggle against my conscious. It is always less justifiable when it comes to article of these contents.

The reason I called it 'Martial Art' and not 'Wushu' (literally means fighting skills), is because the 'Art' encompasses 'Skills'. 'Wushu' is actually a form or rather a concept in the martial art. Most people in the world today, even the highly educated ones still do not actually understand Chinese martial art, or even regard it as low class activity. On the other hand, those who are keen about Chinese Martial art, find it difficult to differentiate between the genuine or the fake.

Chinese martial art has so long been mystified by all sorts of misleading information. Some claimed it to be a mysterious myth, holy, evil or even miraculous. Actually, Chinese martial art is a virtuous knowledge, but now it has been deeply deviated and misunderstood.
